Lubos Petruzelka, M.D., Ph.D., is a distinguished Professor of Medicine and Oncology at Charles University, Medical Faculty in Prague. He is affiliated with the Department of Oncology at the General University Hospital, the Institute of Radiation Oncology, and the Department of Oncology at the Military University Hospital, all within Charles University Medical Faculty in Prague.
Dr. Petruzelka earned his M.D. diploma in 1976 and his Ph.D. in 1997, both from Charles University in Prague, First Faculty of Medicine. Major milestones of his academic career were his nomination as Associate Professor of Clinical Oncology in 1998 and as Professor of Medicine and Oncology in 2008.
In his faculty positions, Dr. Petruzelka has held several significant roles. Since 2012, he has been the Head of the Department of Oncology at the First Faculty of Medicine, General University Hospital in Prague, and the Military University Hospital Prague. From 2001 to 2022, he served as the Head of the Department of the Institute of Radiation Oncology at the First Faculty of Medicine and Na Bulovce Hospital in Prague. Additionally, from 1999 to 2023, he was the Head of the Department of Oncology at the First Faculty of Medicine and General University Hospital in Prague.
Dr. Petruzelka’s major clinical and research interests include breast cancer, lung cancer, renal cancer, colorectal cancer, new drugs, targeted therapy, supportive care, and predictive oncology. His reports an H-index of 38.
In addition to his clinical and research work, Dr. Petruzelka is actively involved in pedagogical activities, focusing on both pregraduate and postgraduate education in clinical oncology.
Among other activities, he is member of major associations in the field of medical oncology; also he is member of the editorial board of peer-reviewed journals such as Lancet Oncology (Central European version), Magazine of European Medical Oncology and Czech journals.
