
Dr. Fernando “Andy” Fernandez is currently serving his third term as Speaker of the House of the Philippine Dental Association (PDA). He is a graduate of the University of the East College of Dentistry (1990) and a recognized specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He holds Diplomate status with the Philippine College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (PCOMS) and is a Fellow of several esteemed organizations, including IAOMS, AAOMS, PAID, PFA, ICD, and ICCDE.
He serves as Assistant Professor III at the University of Perpetual Help Delta System College of Dentistry, where he is also Deputy Medical Director and Chairman of the Department of Dental Medicine. His leadership roles include serving as President of PDA, PCOMS, the Parañaque Dental Chapter, and the Asia Pacific Dental Federation/Asia Pacific Regional Organization (APDF/APRO). Today, he continues to serve as Secretary General of APDF/APRO and Executive Director of ICCDE on his second term.
Dr. Fernandez has spearheaded programs with lasting impact: oral health initiatives, reforms within PDA, international relief efforts after Typhoon Yolanda, the establishment of the PDA Calamity Fund, and nationwide campaigns for Oral Cancer awareness and early detection. He also helped reinstate South Korea into APDF/APRO and launched the Asia Pacific Council on Dental Products, securing funding for continuing education and research.
His achievements have been recognized with numerous awards, including the PRC’s Most Outstanding Professional in Dentistry, the PDA’s highest St. Apolonia Award, and international honors such as the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Pakistan Dental Association.
