Prof. Dr Mohsin Wali is a graduate of GSVM Medical College, Kanpur and has completed his medical degree (MD). He is a Padmashri Awardee. Prof Dr M Wali has been awarded the best Alumnus of Kanpur University. He joined CHS during 1980 and since then has been continuously working with the government prior to joining at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital New Delhi. He has recently been honoured with Doctor of Science from Neissen, Germany. He has written 124 papers in both national and international journals. He has written more than 20 chapters in textbooks of cardiology, medicine and hypertension. He has also promoted Ayurveda and has been chair of committee on AYUSH Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. He has been an astute teacher, keen researcher and above all a generous human being. Presidential Gold Medal of Indian red Cross has been conferred on to him by the President Bharat Ratna Shri Pranab Mukherjee. He has been on a teaching assignment at Dr RML Hospital and Lady Hardinge Medical College as associate professor and professor of medicine. During his stay at Mayo Clinic during 2004-2006 he did research on Renovascular Hypertension.

Dr Wali was awarded prestigious fellowship of the American College of Cardiology and fellowship from the University of Michigan during the year 2005 and 2007 respectively. He has been awarded many times for his distinguished services, especially for the poor and downtrodden. He has won an astounding number of gold medals and citations during his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course and had honours in all subjects in MBBS. He had been awarded chancellor’s medal for Best MBBS student.

He has served President R. Venkatraman since 1990 and later Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma and he recently has continued as personal Physician to the President of India Bharat Ratna Mr Pranab Mukherjee in 2015. In between he was deputed to serve Mr V.P. Sing, former prime minister.

During his career he has been awarded lifetime achievement awards in 2017, 2019, 2024. Currently he is working with tobacco harm reduction.

In continuation of his academic pursuits, he has completed his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in Hospital Administration. He has been honoured as a Fellow of The Royal College of Physicians – Glassgow, UK. The most prestigious of all awards is to have served as full-time Personal Physician to three Presidents of India. Prof. (Dr) M. Wali is presently a senior consultant at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital New Delhi.
