Enrique Teran is a medical doctor and holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacology. He currently is a professor at the School of Medicine at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador. For over 25 years, he has been involved in research with an interest in oxidative stress, chronic/metabolic and infectious diseases, and pharmacogenetics, as well as in public policies and regulatory pathways. He is the author of more than 120 papers published in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Teran is a member of the Ecuadorian Academy of Medicine and the current President (2022-2025) of the Academy of Sciences of Ecuador. For the last six years, Dr. Teran has advocated publicly in favor of Tobacco Harm Reduction in many opportunities, and he is a founding member of the newly created Latin-American network for Tobacco Harm Reduction – RELDAT.
