Dr Dimitrios Stagos has been Lecturer of Animal Physiology from 2010-2015 and Assistant Professor of ‘Animal Physiology – Toxicology’ since 2016, at the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, University of Thessaly, Greece. He has BSc in Biology from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Thessaloniki, Greece; 1998), MSc in Human Genetics from University of Leeds (Leeds, UK; 2000) and PhD in Biochemistry and Biotechnology from University of Thessaly (Larissa, Greece; 2006). He has worked as Researcher in the Medical School of the Penn State University (Hershey, PA, USA; 2005) and as Post-doctoral Associate in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Colorado at Denver (Denver, CO, USA; 2007-2009).

He is specialized in the use of in vitro and in vivo methods of molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, cytogenetics and genomics for the study of the biological activity, especially the antioxidant and anticarcinogenic, of plant extracts and bioactive plant compounds. He has co-authored 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 50 abstracts in practicals of national and international conferences. According to ‘Scopus’ Dr Stagos’ publications have been cited 1191 times and their ‘h-index’ is 17. He has supervised 2 PhD theses, 30 MSc theses and 23 undergraduate dissertations. He has participated in several research grants as co-ordinator or partner. He has also been a scientific collaborator of the Greek Parliament. He is a member of the Greek Association of Biosciences, the Greek Society of Toxicology, the Greek Geotechnical Chamber, the Greek Society of Biochemistry and Physiology in Exercise, the European Environmental Mutagen Society.
